We have found a small scat in our downstairs bathroom, I
wondered if it might be hedgehog, but when I was looking
at hedgehog sign I noticed someone mention that toad sign
can look very like hedgehog.
We wondered if the scat had been carried in from outside
or made in situ. I did notice a large black beetle
wandering across the carpet last week and you can see the
elytra in the picture along with a couple of our dogs
hairs making us think it was made by something that lives
very locally.
Size approx 2cm long.

What do people think? Our bathroom is quite rustic and I
have spotted a toad in there before.
thanks in advance for your advice.
Lily

I don't think that is a toad dropping; they're usually almost black, and much smoother and 'tidier' than that- they're shaped and sized somewhat like a gelatin pill capsule.

Thanks for that Caleb, any idea who could be making those
droppings inside the house?

On another note I looked behind the pipes and there is
still a toad in there. Would it be better released into the
garden?

I've no idea, to be honest.

If the toad can get outside when it wants, it's probably happy enough there. If it can't, it would be better to move it outside.

We get baby toads in the joinery all the time in summer and itĘs my job to get after them and get them out cos they die if left. Think itĘs to do with all the sawdust though, they get caked in it.

BTW, never seen a frog or toad poo before, never even thought about it.

I wanted presents from lots of you. Snot fair that Ben Rigsby was the only one to send me Xmas & birthday presents.
